Midnight Sun was built in 1938 for Nootka Packing Company at North Van Ship Repair Ltd. which later became part of Burrard Drydock. She was built as a table seiner and packed herring and pilchards in the early days. In the late 1940's she operated as a herring and salmon seiner. She has fished from the Bering Sea (Alaska) to the US West Coast.

She is 80 feet overall in length with a beam of 22 feet and a draft of 12 feet. She fished for the Floe family of Vancouver from 1949 to 1994. In 2001 she was purchased by David and Emma Doig as a working boat and converted into a workboat/yacht from 2001-2005.

Currently home port is Vancouver, Canada. Midnight Sun is Transport Canada certified as a passenger carrying vessel.
